□ Name: Thalia Grace
□ Journal: hunteresse
□ Series: Percy Jackson & The Olympians / Heroes of Olympus
□ Canon point: End of The Lost Hero
□ History: http://camphalfblood.wikia.com/wiki/Thalia_Grace
□ Personality:
What we first learn about Thalia, we learn though others. Initially, in the books, Thalia is a pine tree, and it is not until later that she actually becomes human again. From others though, it is learned that Thalia sacrificed herself to save two other demigods- Annabeth and Luke- allowing them to get to the camp. She had been the one that the satyr Grover was supposed to bring to camp due to the fact that she was the daughter of Zeus and was being harassed by monsters seeking to kill her, but they could not leave the other two demigods behind. She would have died, but her father, Zeus, took pity on her and turned her into a pine tree to keep her soul from being taken to Hades.
Thalia is a half-blood- the daughter of Zeus and her mother, simply called Ms. Grace. Being a half-blood, it means that like others, she has A.D.H.D., because her brain is hard-wired for fighting and as such, she tends to focus more on those sorts of things. Her natural instincts are above that of a normal human as she is set to be a warrior, and it is hard for her to sit still for long periods of time as she is set for battle. She also has Dyslexia. This is because her mind, again, is wired to read ancient Greek and not modern English.
Over all, Thalia is a brave girl. She left home at the age of nine, having had enough with her mother after the death of her brother. Most demigods do not survive long on their own, as once monsters realize whom and where they are, they are constantly under attack. Thalia was too, being the daughter of one of the Big Three. It would be with the help of another that Thalia would be able to survive, as she came across another, Luke Castellan, who was the son of Hermes. Together, they joined forces and became close friends, fighting the monsters that came after them. They would later run across Annabeth Chase, and she would join their motley crew of a family.
Thalia is also a caring person. She isn't the sort who puts her own needs before others nor does she sacrifice others for her own ends. She does so at the start of the series, not hesitating to risk her own life to save Luke, Annabeth and Grover from the monsters, and later pushes Annabeth out of the way of a statue that otherwise would have hurt her. In that sense, she is a true hero, but, at the same time, she is also impetuous and tends to act without fully thinking things through. She can be very stubborn, wanting things to go the way that she wants them too, such as with capture the flag. She is a leader, and others do look up to her, but she is also prideful and expects people to obey. People do tend to seek her to be the leader, much to the annoyance of Percy, but she does know a lot and is intelligent. She is considered to be 'cool', and naturally gets a lot of attention, but her story and what she did is fairly well known. At the dance, it is she who leads, not Grover. And, she is also great at giving evil looks.
Thalia can have a temper, and being the daughter of Zeus, things can get a bit electric. She does have the ability to shock people, and she does act without thinking, such as the fight that she got into with Percy after Capture the Flag. She does tend to just run into battle, calling out 'For Zeus'. In many ways, she and Percy are very similar. As Annabeth once said, they would either hate each other or be the best of friends. At times, they do butt heads, for they are alike, but they can also work well together. Thalia is loyal to her friends and she earns their trust and respect and while she might gripe about her father, she would never actually turn against him like Luke thought she would have. She can be prideful as she blames Percy for losing Annabeth, but when she calms down, she realizes that that anger is misplaced. She simply did not want to lose both Luke and Annabeth. This also stems about her feelings of guilt that she has in regards to losing her brother. He went missing when she was younger and her mother told her that he was dead. As she later learns, this isn't the truth. She had been the one to raise him as their mother was an alcoholic and his disappearance was the last straw for her. She never shared her thoughts about her brother or even told anyone about him, and a part of her wondered all those years whether her mother hadn't killed him or just left him alone in the woods, as she wasn't in a right mind.
Each warrior is said to have a fatal flaw and Thalia is no different. Hers is that she is weak against power. She is shown to waver when it was offered to her, but in the end, she did prevail against it, resisting the temptation, but it is clear that it was hard for her to do that. She is self-confident, but sometimes that is not always a good thing because she has too high of an opinion about herself. Surprisingly, as a daughter of Zeus, she hates heights. When Percy finds this out, she makes him promise not to tell anyone. She is determined, to a fault though, not wanting to let something go. So, she is loyal and respective, but she also has her own flaws and regrets.
□ Age: Technically speaking, Thalia was twelve when she was turned into a tree, and an additional five years passed when she remained such. That should have made her seventeen when she became human again, but she aged differently in tree form. The book states that she was actually fifteen in human years when she speaks with Apollo in the third book.
Now, to confuse matters even more, Thalia became immortal, thus stopping her aging process. So, she has actually been ‘alive’ for 21+ years (as Annabeth tells Jason in ‘The Lost Hero’ that she would be in her twenties) although taking the tree stuff into consideration, she could be 19-21 mentally, but she is quite mature given her life.
□ Gender: Female
□ Appearance: Thalia is described as having black hair that is spiky; 'electric' blue eyes and freckles over her nose. She is pretty, but not exactly in the conventional or Aphrodite sense. Her clothing selection can best be described as 'goth' or 'punk'. She wore dark colours and t-shirts with slogans/pictures on them, as well as skull earrings, before joining Artemis. She also puts on a good layer of eyeliner around her eyes. As the lieutenant of the Hunters of Artemis, she wears a silver coloured parka and camo pants. In juxtaposition to her otherwise punk persona, she also has a silver circlet, which bears a resemblance to a tiara that signifies her position in the Hunters as the lieutenant.
□ Abilities/Powers: A trait of demi-gods is ADHD. This is because they are hardwired for battle and ready to go at any moment. Thus, it makes it hard for them to sit still for any period of time. Thalia has natural abilities that give her superb reflexes. She also has natural fighting abilities. To date, she has been shown to use a spear and shield, but also bow and arrows and a pair of hunting knives. Another trait is the fact that her mind is more or less set up to read ancient Greek so she does have problems reading things that are not written as that.
As far as other abilities go, Thalia is the daughter of Zeus, who holds authority over creatures of the sky and weather. She has control over electricity and lightning. She tends to give powerful static shocks with contact to another (as seen between her and Percy when things get a little heated...) and has been described as emitting blue static sparks when she is angry enough. Being the daughter of Zeus, she has also been shown to have some small amount of control over the weather. It can be noted that like Jason, she may very well have the ability to control air. Yet, Thalia is afraid of heights, so if she actually does, she's never used it because of this.
Thalia can also manipulate the mist back home. This means she can make things appear as she wants them too to a mortal. Basically what this does is makes anything that shouldn't be there appear normal or such as having them be students at a school where they did not actually attend. She is also able to ask for things from those creatures that fall in her father's domain and she is immortal. Being a Hunter of Artemis has made her so. She will not age a day so long as she remains a Hunter. This does not mean that she is invulnerable, as she can die and if she falls in love, her immortality will be removed. Disease, illness or age will not kill her, but she can be slain by weapons. On a whole, the Hunters are strong, fast and very accurate with their aim and are able to communicate with their wolves.
